Before We Start 

IS IT OUR CHOICE TO CHANGE?

Before we start changing anything, mentally, physically, OR emotionally, we must first decide:

 

DO WE ACTUALLY WANT TO CHANGE?

 

Permanent change starts with this: WE have to be the ones wanting the change!

As the saying goes "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink".

 

Nobody else can change us - not our parents, partners, coaches, spouses, therapists, or anyone else can change us. They can lead us to the change, but they can't make us change!

 

Only when we CHOOSE to change and commit to that change no matter what, do we have the highest chance to succeed.

 

Whatever our challenge or goal is we have to ask ourselves

THE BIGGEST QUESTION OF ALL! - do I want this?

Do I choose this?! Is it ME choosing this?

If no, this site and the information it provides may help us but not sure. 

If yes, that it IS my choice, then change is very likely to be accomplished. If yes, we will remember back one day that "change did happen and it was good change, and feel great about it!".   If yes, let's do it...

Do any of these challenges or goals apply?

  • Don't feel good generally?

  • Fear of public speaking?

  • Need to improve a sport?

  • Need to change a view on something?

  • Have depression or anxiety attacks?

  • Have physical pains or disease?

  • Always angry or other negative emotion?

  • Have relationships to anyone or anything
    that need improving?

  • Destructive addiction to something such as
    drugs, junk food, person, alcohol, etc?

  • Need to lose or gain weight?

  • Need to change how I feel?

 

What do all of the above have in common?

They are all created by and/or maintained by the way our brain is wired! Good news - we can rewire!

 

Science shows that we can definitely rewire our brain! LIKE PLASTIC, our brains can be molded to our liking. That's the neuroplasticity of our brains. We can help our goals and challenges immensely...by tricking our brain to rewire, to stop bad behaviors, to entice good behaviors, to feel better, to do better! If we choose! And it's never too late!

That is why the first step to major and complete change is to "Choose our Neurons", laugh out loud. It's not laughing at our selves, although that is a great feel good technique in itself, but laughing because it has been "above" our noses the whole time. : )

Mental, physical or emotional challenges are all created by, or at least supported by, the same root cause...hard-wired neural pathways.  Since birth, we experience life, grow neural networks, experience life again, re-pattern or re-enforce our neural networks, experience some more and so on. Eventually we get stuck on certain pathways, that fire a certain way, which either maintains or creates the lives we have. If we have ANY challenge the ultimate goal is to weaken the effect of that undesired wiring, then create and support new stronger complimentary pathways that support a better life or supports our goals. 

 

 

A few points to note:

  • We were once innocent, loving, curious, in-the-now, babies at one time with not a care in the world except for the need of the basics of life.

  • Then experiences happen to us that either make us or break us.

  • But we are not broken, we are successfully producing into existence our mental, physical, and emotional states with whatever perceptions, tools, and resources we have. Our bodies are currently 'perfectly' doing whatever it is we're wanting to change, to the best of our ability.

  • All perceptions, habits, emotions, and states are controlled by the chemistry of our ingrained neural pathways.

  • Those pathways have a level of strength to them.

  • We can make new pathways that are stronger than the ones we want to eliminate or manipulate.

  • We CAN manipulate those pathways!

  • The process of changing how we feel can be looked at as if we are breaking a hypnotic trance - snapping out of whatever neural pattern we are stuck in!

  • We overcome those patterns by creating stronger neural pathways of better choices.

  • As we do the steps it helps to be in the present moment such as sensing our hearts, noticing our heart beat, feeling the sun warming our body, hearing the wind rustling in the trees.

  • Imagine that we breathe into and through our hearts.

  • Consider, for the sake of changing, that we are all connected to, and at the same time at the centre of, all things. Like a drop of water in an ocean is connected to, and centre to, the ocean. 

  • Once we have started the process of complimentary wiring, we then move to step 2 -
